Houston, TX

Hey there, Todd! If you’re in the market for a value-for-money sedan, then the 2009 Galant could be a good choice for you. I will suggest that you test drive one once you visit your Mitsubishi dealer there in Texas. Although it may not look much compared to Acuras and Lexus models, the Galant is a very practical car to drive. After all, Mitsubishi’s rally-bred cars are always fun to drive and usually packed with some “oomph” once you press on the accelerator.

If you are someone who regularly drives people around, rest easy because the Galant can seat 5 people comfortably. Either you pack in the family or your friends for a ride around town, the Galant can ably do that. You can ably do that with a choice from 4 trims. The ES and Sport Edition (SE) both come with a 2.4 Liter MIVEC engine with 160 hp performance. The V6 trims are the Sport V6, with 230 hp and Ralliart with about 258 horsepower. Mitsubishi also took care of passenger comfort by providing automatic climate controlled air-conditioning and cruise control as standards. For safety, all trims have Anti-lock brakes and electronic brakeforce distribution, and front airbags, side-impact air bags and even side curtain airbags. That’s like being engulfed by airbags once you get into an accident.

The Mitsubishi Endeavor, is it a car or an SUV? Whatever it is, can you give me some pointers before I go to my Mitsubishi dealer here in Texas?

Morgan

Houston, TX

The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a car or SUV…make that crossover worth testing out, Morgan. I’m sure that the looks and power or overall performance will satisfy your needs in Texas.

You can like the Endeavor by looking at it in several angles. In terms of power and utility, the two trims of the Endeavor, the LS and SE, are both powered by a 3.8 Liter V6 that generates about 225 horsepower and about 265 lb-ft of torque. With this kind of muscle, you can haul some more gear and people on weekend out of town trips. There are options to go either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on what you’d like to come with your Endeavor. My choice is to go with the all-wheel drive and my reason follows. In terms of handling, since the Endeavor is a crossover, it is a given that it can handle like a car. Mitsubishi made sure of that by providing stability control system to its all-wheel drive models. Once we talk of safety, the Endeavor comes equipped with Anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, front airbags and front and rear curtain airbags. It even has a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Houston, TX

Hello, Lloyd, it’s good that you asked about this. In terms of off-road performance, Mitsubishi’s Endeavor had been a winning performer in Paris-Dakar rallies. You’ll be guaranteed a good vehicle that can take the action from the pavement to camping trails. I’ll be recommending a 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor to you. I suggest you look at one in a Mitsubishi dealer in Texas.

First of all, remember this is a crossover, it’s designed to feel like a car but to an extent, take the punishment of an SUV. Although available in LS and SE trims, you got the same heart beating under the hood; a 3.8 liter V6 that pumps 225 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 255 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm. That is power to take on the city and wild. I’ll feel confident in taking this to the hardware store and to some of my weekend trips with the kids. With 60/40 seating at the rear, I can easily haul more gear if I want to. With no gear, the Endeavor can haul 5 people comfortably. To add to ease of driving, this crossover has Sportronic automatic transmission. No need to worry about changing gears when changing roads. And for safety, the Endeavor comes fully equipped with standard airbags plus curtain side airbags that greatly reduce the chance of driver and passenger injury in case of an accident.

Personally, I think that Mitsubishi’s got you well-covered with the Endeavor. Hope to see you in one, Lloyd.

What’s great about the Lancer Evolution from Mitsubishi? I think I’d like to speed around Texas in one.

Noel

Houston, TX

Hey, Noel, get yourself in one and start zooming around Texas. So, what’s new? There are some adjustments to the engine, tinkering with the weight distribution, great power output below redline. Seats are awesome, too. You’ll definitely feel like a racer in one especially in those curves. Let’s expound on some few key features, so you’ll know that this is not just a Lancer with a nice body kit.

I guess it is going to be better to focus on the heart and soul of the Lancer Evolution. Let’s spell it out, M-I-V-E-C, MIVEC, or Mitsubishi’s Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control system. This system is used in the 2.0 liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4 engine that uses the lightweight 4B11 engine design. Add some turbocharging and a little intercooling and voila! You get the core of the Lancer Evolution that flexes 291 hp at 6,500 rpm (7,000 rpm is the redline). Sweet, ain’t it? Now, imagine that in low-weight aluminum construction. Light enough? Now, replace the timing belt with a timing chain system and you get a low-vibration engine. Low vibration means doing away with the balance shaft, less weight, more on speed. Getting the picture?

Enough muscle, let’s go to driving one. You can either go for the 5-speed manual transmission on the GSR or go for an enhance 6-speed automatic transmission with the MR trim. With the MR, you also get steering wheel paddle-shifters for a greater racing feel, it shifts in milliseconds.

Either way, you add power and racing enhanced transmission to an awesome rally-bred suspension system and you’ll get sporty handling. That is the 2008 Lancer Evolution.

Noel, it’s time to speed off.

A friend of mine told me that if I wanted a cool looking car, I should try going for a Lancer. I am about ready to give up on my dad’s 10-year old hand-me-down Ford. It’s time for the big league move here in good old Houston, Texas. Should I go with my friend’s advice?

Eric

Houston, TX

Hey, Eric, I think you’re friend is right. It is time to ditch the hand-me-down and look good in Houston, Texas. And it is time to get rid of some maintenance headaches. I bet you got a few things planned already for you and your Lancer.

But, hey, let me just say what is in store for my man, Eric. If you saw a lot of car movies that featured a lot of Asian-looking people, chances are, you know how much mod-ding you can do with the Mitsubishi Lancer. But first, my advice is, go with the base model for a 2009 Lancer and mod as you go. Enjoy the stock model first before tinkering with it. That way, you get to maximize the full-potential of the engine and the look of the car. By the way, if you’re really up to it. I suggest you go for a GTS or the Ralliart Lancer. Choices are between a 168 hp and 237 horsepower engines, the MIVECS engines have always been reliable. You can also check out the available options for the two models when you go to your Mitsubishi Houston dealer. Either way, with either the GTS or Ralliart, you get power and coolness in your future car. Whoo! I love the new Lancer.

I think I’m ready to drive a new roadster in Houston, Texas again. Besides, my MX-5 could sure use some company in the garage. Would a 2009 Eclipse be a good big “baby bro” to my Mazda MX-5?

Vic

Houston, TX

Hello, Vic. I’d like to add that it’s a good thing you are keeping that MX-5 around. It is still one of the better vehicles that Mazda ever produced. Now, on to better things, let’s talk Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi has a long tradition of performance and design excellence. I think choosing the 2009 Eclipse would indeed be a great choice for your car’s “big bro” position.

The Eclipse has 2 trims, the GS and GT, both with MPI (multi-point injection) engines. Main difference between the two is their power plants. The GS trim keeps under its hood, a 16-valve Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) 2.4 Liter MIVECS engine while the GT has a 24-valve SOHC 3.8 Liter MIVECS engine. In terms of power, the GS cranks up about 162 hp at 6,000 revolutions per minute while the GT does 262 horsepower under 6,000 RPM. Redlines for both are at 6,500. That takes care of the muscle part, let’s talk looks. Personally, since you’re talking “roadster,” the logical choice for you should be the 2009 Eclipse Spyder GT. I loooove the 18 inch wheels on the on an Eclipse. There are also options for putting in a premium stereo system. Not only does the car look good, you’ll look awesome in it, too. Imagine you and the Eclipse Spyder in Houston, Texas. Great picture, isn’t it?

Reader’s Question:

I am supposed to visit a Mitsubishi Dealer in Houston, Texas and plans a 2007 Eclipse purchase. Could you possibly describe to me the interiors of the said car?

Vanessa

Houston, TX

My family owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse here in Houston, Texas and we all really love it. Especially when you jump in, you will feel the luxurious yet austere design. The dash extends across the cabin in a single piece of pleasantly finished plastic. Physically, it moves away from the front passenger as it nears the door, adding a perception of roominess. Yet the lower part of the right side dash subtly incorporates a knee bolster. The front airbag supplemental inhibition is masked by a seamless surface. The Stereo and the climate control dials are finger friendly and easy to operate. The 140-watt, six-speaker system that comes standard is not even a loll, and even saves a cubic foot or so that the premium system’s 10-inch subwoofer occupies in the cargo area. The handbrake is positioned on the correct spot which is on the driver’s side of the center console next to the shift lever. A pair of cup holder is located on the right side.

Indeed I could not ask for more with the comfort that I get from the 2007 Eclipse from Mitsubishi. We were also able to get a reliable auto insurance to come with it from this site. They have free quotations and you get fast answers to your queries.

Reader’s Question:

I just closed a great deal for a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse here in Houston, Texas. I am actually fussy when it comes to the interiors; can you give a short detail about what’s inside this car?

David

Houston, TX

I am also a proud owner of the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse and I am very proud to share the good things about its interiors. Jumping inside this marvelous vehicle, Front seats are comfortable, sufficiently bolstered for mildly spirited driving and satisfactorily cushioned for a long, interstate drive from around Houston, Texas. The 2007 Eclipse provides more room, more spacious than the pre-’06 model for front-seat. It is a blend of slight increases in key dimensions and design tricks that boosts the spacious feel.

The doors of the Mitsubishi Eclipse are frameless which drop fractionally to clear their seals when the door is opened and then re-seat when the door is closed. Their windows’ shape required a fixed quarter window toward the front which allows the main windows to retract fully into the door. This design moves the outside mirrors backward, so the driver must consciously turn his or her head to the side to scan for overtaking traffic. Back seat comfort does not lie in here and there are no head restraints. The back seats are to be used almost only for very short drives. Interior door panels are functional, with a good-sized handle and convenient, child-safe power window buttons. These are the most favorable features of the Mitsubishi eclipse that I really love. I was also able to get an affordable auto insurance for this one at a very cheap price.

Reader’s Question:

My dad is getting the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse here in Houston Texas. He wants me to check out how the engine performs especially on long trips. Can you give us a heads start on the driving experience for this car?

Mitch

Houston, TX

I was lucky to be one of the first owners of the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse here in Houston, Texas. Actually, what I can say about this vehicle is that I see it more of a touring coupe that a sports car. It runs proud with its wider stance and more powerful engine as compared to the earlier model in 2006. Both the four-cylinder and V6 engines are strong, though the four works best with the manual transmission, which allows the driver to readily extract maximum acceleration. The V6 injects more horsepower, but it also puts more weight over the Eclipse’s front wheels. There might be some weight issues that you will encounter. But Mitsubishi tried to something new to alleviate this with the use of six speed manual transmission. It re-routes the power flow through the transmission’s gears and shafts, thus it effectively gives the incorporated center differential two final drive ratios (one for gears 1 - 4, the other for gears 5, 6 and reverse), and it shrunk the unit’s size. This gives a more compact installation and reduces the GT’s front-weight bias.

Special treatment was also given to the GT’s suspension, with a larger rear stabilizer bar countering stiffer front springs to maintain a more desirable roll center. There is also a cross bar that is attached to the front suspension towers, although the brace snakes through the engine compartment with enough bends and twists to invite doubt as to the extent of its contribution in the handling department. Indeed, I am really happy with how my Mitsubishi Eclipse works. I was even able to get an affordable yet reliable auto insurance for it on this website. They offer free quotations, so check it now.

I am looking around Houston, Texas for an affordable Mitsubishi Eclipse package and a nice reliable insurance. What package option would you recommend for the Mitsubishi Eclipse?

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe runs on a 162hp- 4 cylinders or 263-hp V6 engine with either a manual or automatic transmission. I was able to check the model line up for each package prior to getting my own GT here in Houston Texas and I would like to share what I have found.

To start the list is the Mitsubishi GS which is the entry level model and price starts at around $19,699. Its engine is a 4- cylinder with standard 5-speed manual. You may opt to get a 4-speed Sportronic for an additional $900. This model comes with an impressive list of standard features which includes air conditioning, cruise control, a 140-watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo, auto-off halogen headlamps, power windows, cruise control and a unique dash-top audio display with clock. You can also opt to buy additional features such as The Sound and Sun package for added power sunroof and a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate stereo with CD changer and a subwoofer.

Next on the list is the Mitsubishi GT which is powered by a 263-hp V6 engine with six-speed manual transmission and standard fog lamps. The GT has a price range that starts at $23,399. Features mentioned for the GS are also available for the GT. If you prefer your GT to be different from the basic features of GS, you can get the Premium Sport Package for about $3270. This package includes the sunroof, heated front seats with leather upholstery, automatic climate control, Rockford Fosgate stereo, and a power driver’s seat

These are two great packages for the new Mitsubishi Eclipse. This is a great vehicle that is worth driving around Houston Texas. I was able to have a 3 hour test drive on this model and I was really amazed. One more thing, this great car also deserves the best deal in terms of car insurance. I was able to get one heck of deal on this web page. Check on it and be amazed on their premiums and quotations.
